The Three Graces

[Em]Cantos Maria

Digital Art: Photo Cutouts, Overlays, and Digital Painting

Fineart printing - Canson paper 224 g/m²

Dimensions: 29.7x42cm

Year 2017 - 2018

This work tells of violence.  There are many Marias in corners, alone and enclosed in their fears, subjugated and surrendered.

The sequence of images tries to instigate the observer's gaze to the solitary pains that succumb to these women.

The title of the work plays with words, allowing for several meanings.

The creative process took place from digital clippings of photographs, authorial, where parts of women's faces merge and merge through manipulation tools and digital painting with parts of faces panned from the virtual universe, thus creating other new, unknown faces. , in which perhaps we can recognize ourselves.

The engravings in the Vestígios de Alma series are the result of experiments that mix fragments of photographs, drawing, painting and digital technology. The visual discourse is constituted from the relationship where parts of overlapping images and deconstructed from their original aspect create new signifiers and enable the construction of new art objects. These are compositions based on research and reflections on the work of Gustav Klimt and the feminine.

For the creation of the works and the Polychromia Series, the Brazilian Indigenous Tribes, extinct or not, were considered as inspiring objects. The works are the result of hybrid experiments that mix photography, drawing, painting in the digital process.  Each work was guided by an indigenous tribe. Traits that speak of the history, of the memory of the Brazilian people, mediated by visuality and that propose reflections on potentialities, codes, language, among others.

Dante's Heaven

For the creation of the works (panels) “The Divine Comedy” by Dante Alighieri [Three books: Inferno, Purgatório e Paraíso] was considered as an inspiring object.

The works are the result of hybrid experiments that mix photography, drawing, painting in the digital process; mainly symmetrical, inspired by the books of the Divine Comedy. Each work had a book of the literary work as a guiding thread. Traits that can speak of memory, mediated by visuality and that bet on the relationship with the observer, which can cause estrangement, awaken sensations, provoke reflections, as an effect created by the work to distance us from the common way in which we apprehend the world and itself.
